Rishad Hossain Linked with SA20 Move

South Africa’s SA20 has quickly become one of the most popular franchise leagues in world cricket. So far, no Bangladeshi cricketer has featured in the tournament. However, that could change next season, with reports suggesting that Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is attracting interest from one of the league’s top teams.

According to The Daily Sun, SA20 powerhouse Sunrisers Eastern Cape are closely monitoring Rishad ahead of the upcoming season. The franchise has enjoyed great success in the competition and could be looking to add the Bangladeshi spinner to their squad.

A familiar face is already part of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape setup. Former Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo serves as the team’s batting coach, raising the possibility of a reunion with Rishad.

When asked about the possibility of signing the leg-spinner, Domingo told The Daily Sun: ” Yes, seems like it.”

If the move materializes, Rishad would add another major franchise league to his growing resume. He has already impressed in both the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).

Playing for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, Rishad claimed 12 wickets and played an important role with the ball. He followed that up with another impressive campaign in the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes, taking 15 wickets in 11 innings. Among spinners, he finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

The next SA20 season is scheduled to run from January 9 to February 4. If Rishad secures a contract, he may once again have to miss the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), just as he did last season when he chose to play in the Big Bash League instead.
