Shaun Tait Steps Down as Bangladesh Bowling Coach

Shaun Tait has stepped down from his role as Bangladesh national cricket team’s bowling coach due to family reasons. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the development in an official statement on Thursday (June 4).

According to the BCB, Tait informed the board about his personal family situation and initially expressed a desire to continue in the role. However, he wanted to work on a reduced schedule. After discussions between both parties, it was decided that stepping down would be the most practical solution. The decision was made amicably and with mutual understanding.

Tait’s Contributions to Bangladesh Cricket

The former Australian fast bowler joined Bangladesh’s coaching staff in May 2025. During his time with the team, he played an important role in developing the country’s pace-bowling unit. Under his guidance, Bangladesh’s fast bowlers improved their skills, consistency, and overall effectiveness across formats.

The BCB noted that Bangladesh’s pace attack became stronger and more competitive during Tait’s tenure. His contribution to the growth of the fast bowlers was widely appreciated, and he was part of the coaching setup during several notable performances by the national team.

Tait’s Resignation and Future Plans

Speaking about his resignation, Tait said, “It has been a privilege to work with the Bangladesh National Team and to be part of a talented and committed group of players and support staff. This was not an easy decision, and I sincerely appreciate the understanding and support shown by the BCB throughout our discussions.”

He also expressed pride in the progress made by Bangladesh’s pacers. “I am proud of what the pace bowlers have achieved and I believe they have an exciting future ahead. I wish the team every success going forward.”
