Litton Das Slams Mohammad Rizwan Over Handshake Snub After Test Defeat
Bangladesh’s dominance over Pakistan in Test cricket has continued in recent meetings between the two sides. The Tigers have now won four consecutive Tests against Pakistan, including a memorable series whitewash that remains fresh in the minds of fans.
However, one moment from the recent Sylhet Test has continued to draw attention even after the match ended.
During the game, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan were involved in a heated exchange on the field. The incident began when Litton became frustrated with what he felt was unnecessary time-wasting from Rizwan.
In an interview with the Bangladeshi daily Prothom Alo, Litton said emotions can run high during a match, but he was disappointed by Rizwan’s actions after the game. “A lot of things happen in the heat of the moment,” Litton said. “But the thing that bothered me the most was that after they lost the first Test, he didn’t come to shake hands with us. I think that’s very disappointing.”
The Bangladesh star said that regardless of a player’s reputation or status, showing respect after a match is an important part of the game. “No matter how big a player you are, you will win some matches and lose some matches. At the end of the game, you should come out and shake hands with everyone,” he added.
Litton Das Questions Rizwan’s Behavior
Litton also claimed that the same thing happened after the second Test. “He did the same after the second Test. The match ended, but he didn’t come onto the field to shake hands. Maybe he had an issue with me, but he didn’t have a problem with the entire Bangladesh team.”
The wicketkeeper-batter questioned how such behavior could affect relationships between players in future encounters. “Do you think there will be the same level of respect the next time we play against him? There shouldn’t be. Because at the end of the day, he didn’t show that respect to the Bangladesh team.”
The incident has sparked a debate about sportsmanship in cricket, with many fans and former players weighing in on the issue. While some have defended Rizwan’s actions, others have criticized him for not showing respect to the opposing team.
As the cricket world continues to discuss the incident, one thing is clear: the spirit of the game is just as important as the outcome. And for Litton Das and the Bangladesh team, the lack of respect shown by Rizwan will not be forgotten anytime soon.
