Bangladesh Cricket Board Begins Election Process, Aims for Early Completion
The current 11-member ad-hoc committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has one main responsibility: organizing the next board election on time. The committee has been given a 90-day deadline. However, committee president Tamim Iqbal wants to complete the election process even earlier.
With that goal in mind, the ad-hoc committee has already started working on the election process. Several important decisions were taken during the third board meeting held on Monday (May 4).
Key Decisions
One of the key decisions was to dissolve the existing ad-hoc committees of the regional cricket associations in Chattogram, Sylhet, and Barishal. This step was taken with immediate effect.
The board has also decided to begin the process for the upcoming BCB election. As part of this, a notice will soon be issued inviting nominations for councillors from all categories, following the board’s constitution.
Another major step is the formation of an election commission. A three-member commission will oversee the election. It will include one representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports or the National Sports Council (NSC), along with two members nominated by the BCB.
New Partnership
Alongside these election-related decisions, the board also confirmed a new partnership. Coca-Cola Bangladesh has been approved as the official drinking water and beverage partner of the BCB for the next two years.
According to the official statement, these steps are part of a structured plan to ensure a smooth and timely election process, while also continuing the board’s commercial activities.
