These newly appointed coaches will be working closely with junior and senior emerging talent, providing them with technical guidance and mentorship. Furthermore, they will coordinate directly with VVS Laxman, the head of cricket operations at the COE, to streamline the pathways for young cricketers coming through the ranks. This collaboration is designed to ensure that the coaching philosophy is aligned across all levels of the game.
Meet the New Coaching Team
The BCCI has selected three former international cricketers, each bringing a wealth of experience to the Centre of Excellence:
- Nooshin Al Khadeer (Bowling Coach): A seasoned campaigner, Nooshin played 78 ODIs for India, claiming 100 wickets with a remarkable economy rate of 3.57. Her expertise in managing line and length will be invaluable for young bowlers looking to break into the international side.
- V. R. Vanitha (Fielding Coach): Known for her energetic presence, Vanitha has transitioned seamlessly from a player representing India in ODIs and T20Is to a career in talent scouting and coaching. Her involvement with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the WPL has already proven her capability in the modern cricketing environment.
- Sunetra Paranjpe (Batting Coach): As a former all-rounder who represented India between 2002 and 2007, Sunetra brings a deep understanding of batting mechanics. Her experience across both Tests and ODIs provides a balanced perspective that will help budding batters refine their technique.
Preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup
This organizational shake-up comes at a critical juncture. With the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5, the focus on technical excellence has never been sharper. The Indian squad, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, is currently preparing for a challenging group stage. Placed alongside formidable opponents like Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands, the ‘Women in Blue’ face a demanding path to glory.
The campaign begins with a high-stakes encounter against Pakistan on June 14 at Edgbaston.
